As a Food Science lecturer, Annelien Pienaar brings years of experience and knowledge, which she shares with enthusiastic cooks. From advanced to simple recipes, each one is written with a “lesson” embedded in it. Users can rest assured that all potential pitfalls and challenges are highlighted beforehand, ensuring baking success every time.

Her first cookbook, Boerekos with a Twist, was published in July 2017 in South Africa by Human & Rousseau. This was followed by another cookbook in 2021 titled Meat: The Comprehensive Guide, available in both English and Afrikaans. Both of her books are available internationally on platforms like Amazon UK, Book Depository, World of Books, Saarkie Books, and many more. In Meat: The Comprehensive Guide, you’ll find detailed sections on Beef, Pork, Lamb, Poultry, Game (feathered and furred), and offal. The book is supported by a final chapter focusing on herbs, spices, their combinations, rubs, marinades, sauces, and many more secret recipes that enhance the flavour of each meat cut. Each animal is divided into cuts, with cooking methods and delicious recipes for each cut. Clear photographs guide you so that you can confidently visit a butcher and know exactly what to order and how to make the most of each cut.

Annelien Pienaar’s dedication to social media platforms with her “recipe with a lesson” principle has transformed her into an overnight social media success. What began as a shortcut to share information with her students quickly grew, with her blog receiving nearly 2.3 million visits. This led her to create a formal website where users can more easily and quickly access her recipes.
